Celebrating American Craft Beer Week with Big Country

Craft Beer Week Big Country

American Craft Beer Week (May 13–19, 2025) is more than just an excuse to crack open a cold one—it’s a nationwide toast to innovation, independence, and community. As Texas’s only certified organic craft brewery, we’re proud to be part of a movement that not only brews great beer, but also drives change in agriculture, sustainability, and local economies. Whether you’re new to craft beer or a longtime taproom regular, here’s how to celebrate the week, discover new breweries, support legislation, and stock up like a pro.

What Is American Craft Beer Week?

Started by the Brewers Association, American Craft Beer Week is a nationwide celebration of the people, places, and passion behind small and independent breweries. This week is about recognizing the impact of craft beer on culture, local economies, and innovation in brewing—and reminding folks that beer can be as much about community and creativity as it is about refreshment.

For us, it’s also a time to reflect on what it means to be organic and craft by using better ingredients and putting purpose behind every pint. It’s also a reminder that behind every craft beer is a story—of a place, of people, and of purpose.

Support Texas Craft Beer: 2025 Legislative Preview

Craft brewers in Texas are more than makers—they’re also advocates. The Texas Craft Brewers Guild is gearing up for the 2025 legislative session, pushing for policy changes that protect small brewers and help our industry grow. Key issues expected to be addressed include:

Beer to You (SB 246 / HB 2441): Would let Texas breweries legally deliver and ship beer directly to customers—just like wineries and other Texas retailers already can.

Interfacility Transfer (SB 1240 / HB 4773): Would make it easier for breweries with multiple locations to move their own beer between sites without unnecessary red tape.

Beers for Steers (SB 1554 / HB 3336): Offers tax relief to breweries that donate spent grain to local farmers and ranchers, supporting sustainability and lowering feed costs.

You can learn more about what’s ahead and how to get involved here. Want to help? Follow the Guild, email your state rep, or simply ask your favorite brewery how you can support. Every voice counts.

Why Craft Beer Matters

Craft beer isn’t just about what’s in the glass—it’s about what it supports. It’s about pushing boundaries, taking risks, and creating community around something thoughtful and well-made. Small breweries are often the ones experimenting with new hops, reviving historic styles, and bringing fresh ideas to the brewing world.

They also fuel local economies by creating jobs, revitalizing neighborhoods, and partnering with small farms and suppliers. When you drink a local craft beer, you’re putting dollars back into your own community.

And here’s where we at Big Country come in: the organic movement in beer has been led largely by craft breweries like ours. We believe better beer starts with better ingredients—from organic hops to fair-trade organic cane sugar for our hard seltzers. Supporting craft means supporting a shift toward more sustainable, transparent, and conscious brewing practices.

Here’s to craft, to community, and to the people behind the pints. Cheers, y’all.
