At Big Country Organic Brewing Co., we like to say that good beer starts from the ground up—literally. This Earth Day, we’re toasting to the roots of what make our seltzers and beers better: certified organic ingredients and Fair Trade practices that put the planet and people first.
Whether you're sipping on our Prickly Pear & Peach hard seltzer or cracking open a TexMex Lager, every can is a small win for the earth. Here’s why:
Before synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers took over agriculture, everything was organic. At Big Country, we’re getting back to those roots.
Organic farming protects the environment by avoiding toxic chemicals that pollute soil, waterways, and air. Instead, organic growers use natural methods like crop rotation and composting to enrich the land—not deplete it. That means healthier ecosystems, richer soil, and more resilient crops.
Plus, organic fields create a safer habitat for bees, birds, and other pollinators—critical players in our global food system.
All of our hard seltzers start by fermenting Fair Trade Certified organic cane sugar into alcohol. (By the time it's been filtered through our seltzers are zero sugar, by the way).
Fair Trade means farmers are paid fairly and work in safe, sustainable conditions. But it also goes deeper: farmers are able to protect the environment, build sustainable livelihoods, and earn additional money to empower and uplift their communities. Big Country Fair Trade purchases have sent back over $100,000 to the farmers in Paraguay who harvest our sugar.
When you choose a Big Country drink, you’re supporting a global network of producers who believe in doing things the right way—not the easy way.
At Big Country, “organic” isn’t just a label—it’s a promise we keep from ingredient to can.
Every product we make starts with USDA Certified Organic ingredients, and continues through a brewing process that’s held to the highest national organic standards. That means no synthetic pesticides, no artificial preservatives, and no shortcuts—ever in our ingredients or brewing process.
But being certified organic isn’t a one-time thing. Each year, we go through a rigorous inspection by QAI (Quality Assurance International) to maintain our organic certification. This audit ensures that our ingredients are properly sourced, our equipment is clean and segregated, and our processes meet strict criteria to avoid any contamination from non-organic materials.
Being organic takes extra effort, but we believe it’s worth it. Because when you choose Big Country, you’re choosing a cleaner drink, a more transparent process, and a lighter impact on the earth.
At Big Country, going organic wasn’t a trend—it was our starting point. It’s better for our bodies, better for our communities, and better for the only planet we’ve got.
And we don’t stop at what’s inside the can. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable—from the aluminum cans to the cardboard carriers—so you can enjoy your drink and recycle it guilt-free.
So this Earth Day, crack open a can of something that gives back. Because when you drink Big Country, you’re not just enjoying something refreshing—you’re taking part in something regenerative.
Happy Earth Day from all of us at Big Country!
