Big Changes for Big Country: Closing Pflugerville Taproom, Opening New East Austin Location

Big Country Organic Brewing Co. has big changes in the works for 2025! We have purchased two properties at 7th St. and Webberville Rd. in East Austin that will become the home of Big Country Garden. The space will include a brewery, taproom, full-service bar, multiple food concepts, coffeeshop, and a beer garden. Construction is expected to begin in March with an anticipated November 2025 opening.

The move will allow Big Country to expand production capacity in the Pflugerville facility, a major need as we try to keep up with demand at home in the Austin metro, across Texas, and now Colorado and Southern California.

The Pflugerville project will include the addition of several new fermenters, lagering tanks, and brite tanks, which means we’ll have the room to make even more of the drinks you already love and bring exciting new ones to life. Big Country Garden will serve as the experimental brewery for seasonals, limited releases, and a barrel aging program while the Pflugerville brewery will focus on large-scale production.

As part of this transition, the taproom at the Pflugerville facility closed to the public on Friday, December 20. However, fans of Chef Austin Crouch's famous smashburgers can rest assured—he will remain part of the team and continue to deliver outstanding food. Additional announcements regarding the new branding and location of the food truck are forthcoming.

“We are excited and honored to be expanding as we celebrate entering our fourth year of business. There have been a lot of challenges along the way, both internally managing growth and externally with shifting consumer demand, inflation, and supply chain limitations. The fact that we are not only still here, but growing is a testament to the quality of our products and the tireless efforts of our outstanding team. It is bittersweet to be saying goodbye to the many wonderful folks who support us week in and week out in Pflugerville. The new digs in Austin will allow us to serve a much larger crowd, and the new tanks in Pflugerville will let us really spread our wings. Big thanks to everyone who drinks Big Country, you make it possible for us to keep doing what we love!” commented Ryan Shramek, President of Big Country.
